We are a small family company with a big heart. We are limited to the amount we can produce. We never like telling a customer we are sold out, nor do we want the quality of our products to suffer. We pride ourselves on the quality of products we produce.  We maintain a high level of standard which our customers have learned to expect from us. We do small batch and not mass production.  There is a reason we do it this way and you will taste the difference. We truly value your business and support as we continue to grow.

Our Story

The best things in life are simple, so are our pierogies. Our focus is on using high quality ingredients and staying true to old fashioned techniques. All our pierogies are hand crafted in small batches, resulting in a taste above the rest. The pierogies are par-boiled and immediately flash frozen to preserve the freshness. Our method of hand pinching and pre-cooking reduce the possibility of breakage and overall allow for a delicious product.

My name is Lorraine and I co-own West End Pierogies with my husband David. Our recipes are based on the same recipes my  Baba used.  She was known for her pierogies throughout Selkirk and Beausejour when she was alive. She taught me everything I needed to know about pierogi making before the age of 12. I have very fond memories of sitting at my Baba Bodnaruk's farm table pinching pierogies with her. Many secrets were shared, plenty of fun, laughter and memories made.

David, is not new to the food industry. He ran a successful catering company for over 15 years here in Winnipeg. He retired a few years back, or so he thought. Prior to Covid, I was a dental hygienist of 20 years. I was unable to return to my job due to Covid and health concerns, combined with working in a high risk environment made it hard for me to return safely. So having alot of time on our hands and frustrated there was nothing to do in lockdown we started making pierogies and cabbage rolls  for our family and close friends. Before we knew it, we were getting requests from other people. We then started renting commercial cooking space. We continued to grow and now have our own kitchen.   We truly believe in our products and the fundamental basics of crafting really good small batch pierogies. We might not pump them out like a factory but we can guarantee that we hand craft our products to look & taste just like homemade. We may not have a million varieties but the varieties we do offer, we do really well. We are big on flavor and quality and we have perfected both. The two biggest compliments we get is when we are told they taste just like Baba's and when our customers refer someone new.  We value our relationships with our customers and are committed to providing them with exceptional customer service and the best quality products.

If you do not live in the city, we do come to select rural areas and arrange group pickups on a select day and time.  Due to covid, we got creative and have learned to master the art of driveup service.  This service is much appreciated in our cold winters as you dont have to get our of your vehicle.  We do all the work for you.  Group pickups in rural towns have made it possible to eliminate delivery fees with no minimum orders and no deposits.
